Graphics portfolio

Here is a selection of works I have produced, including logo concepts, letterheads and other miscellaneous things.

Fractals

I have some experience with fractals, which are basically graphics produced using complicated math.

There are a few programs I use that can be used to produce fractals, though the ones that I find produce some of the best results are Fyre and Apophysis.

Blue-tech tulip - 2007

Blue tech looking fractal made in Fyre I was experimenting with Fyre in the middle of 2007 and came up with this blue, tech looking image that almost looks like a tulip.

GIMP

One of my favourite and most powerful programs in use is GIMP.

It is a raster graphics editor, which means that it performs operations on bitmap based images (including files with extensions such as such as .bmp, jpeg, png ,etc) directly onto a grid pixels that make up the image.

Many different types of graphics can be produced with this program, and although it is primarily a raster graphics editor it has limited support for scalable vector graphics, animation and more.

Dene Gibson portfolio logo concept - 2007

Vector of a character made in GIMP, concepted by Dene Gibson Here is a logo I came up with for a possible design concept I was developing for use on my website www.denegibson.co.uk.

What I wanted was a simple, little character that looks like it has a quirky personality.

Someone has told me that it looks a bit like a character from a game called Rachet and Clank, so I guess that is why I felt like it could have been well suited to a site with some kind of computer game genre.

Gradient bug - 2007

Bug made with gradients An insect made using gradients.

The base of this was actually something I produced following a tutorial, though the colouring, effects and eyes were all the result of me expanding on the initial concept.

Dene Gibson photo manipulation - 2007

Photo manipulation of spikey haired Dene Gibson with green eyes This is a photo manipulation of myself.

Although this photo of mine was not intended for a specific use at the time, it has been used as a forum avatar (small image used as a graphical representation on internet chat sites), display picture for my dA account and something pretty just to show people who want to know what I look like.

Anime explosion forum signature - 2007

Anime explosion forum signature Yet another forum signature.

This one I was experimenting with the cubism filter to create a light explosion effect.

I think I pulled it off.
